About The Technician Dojo
The Technician Dojo is a self-defense school on Parsons Avenue in South Columbus, founded and led by Master Steven Hatfield. Our primary art is Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate Jutsu, a system Master Hatfield developed over more than 25 years to address the practical demands of real-world confrontation through striking, weapons, and ground work taught as one cohesive curriculum.
We believe training should be shaped around the student. A child beginning at age 4 and an adult with no prior experience move through the same progression, each reviewed individually and advanced when they are ready. There is no fixed belt timeline, and advancement is not a reward for time spent. It reflects what the student has actually developed.
Our programs include Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate, Judo and Jujutsu, Firearms Education and Certifications, and TENSHINKIDO Holistic Services. We are not a competition school or a sport academy. We train people who want to understand their art, develop real capability, and apply what they learn with judgment and responsibility.

Not a Belt Factory
Students advance when they are ready, not on a fixed calendar. A black belt in Ryu-Saiichi-Do Karate takes four to ten years for most students.

Four disciplines under one roof: Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate with Okinawan weapons, Judo and Jujutsu, NRA-certified Firearms Education, and TENSHINKIDO Holistic Services.
